Your CMO wants to launch a new subscription plan. The revenue forecast looks great. Your CTO looks at the same plan and says the network is not ready for it. Who is right?

Today, that is a hard question to answer before launch. So most operators launch first and find out later, from congestion, complaints, and churn, when the plan is already live and fixing it means unplanned CapEx.

Why simulating a subscription plan is so hard

To settle the CMO versus CTO question properly, you have to simulate two things at once and connect them:

  • The demand the plan will create - which subscribers take it, where they are, and how much extra traffic they generate across the day.
  • What your network can actually deliver - the capacity, spectral efficiency, and quality of experience of every cell, at the busy hour and off-peak.

Then you have to weigh the plan's expected revenue against the additional CapEx needed to serve that demand without degrading quality of experience. Doing this precisely, cell by cell, is slow and effort-intensive. Traditional network capacity planning leans on spreadsheets and cell averages, which miss where and when congestion actually happens, so the revenue-versus-CapEx picture ends up a guess. Most teams simply cannot produce it in the time a launch decision allows.

Two digital twins: your network and your subscribers

Every per-site recommendation rolls up into one business case for the whole network: the plan's revenue forecast against the CapEx it will actually require, with the ROI. So you can decide whether the plan is worth launching, and tune it to a healthy ratio, before you commit a single cent. This is smart CapEx in practice: every dollar aimed at the revenue it protects.
